Watch The Skies: Second Sight - Roles Guide
Here is a general guide for the what the different roles are in the game. Some advice is given which might help players determine which roles they have a preference for.
Team Size: 4 or 5 players, depending on country
The majority of players in this game represent the most senior government roles in some of the world's major countries. Each team represents the overall government of one country. The different roles are:
Head of State
The Head of State leads and coordinates the team. In countries with greater influence, the Head of State has a deputy to assist with their responsibilities.
Foreign Affairs Representative
This player is the country's representative in meetings of the United Nations, and will be representing the country's wishes in major international resolutions.
This player is responsible for the country's deployments on the world stage, including moving armies, espionage and intelligence actions, and intercepting alien craft.
This player is responsible for managing their country's presence and progress in the scientific community, as well as liaising with Corporations to keep track of new technological developments.
Team Size: 3 players
A few of the teams represent large, international-scale corporations. These teams will be researching and manufacturing products and services that they can sell to the Nation teams. Corporation teams will be focused on maximising profits and keeping their share price as high as possible. Each Corporation team has three roles:
The CEO leads and coordinates the team. They will also be talking to various other teams to make deals and sell their Corporation's products.
Head of Production
This player will be keeping track of what the Corporation is producing, ensuring products are manufactured on time, and staying on the lookout for new goods to sell. They will also be assisting the CEO in talking with other teams and making important sales.
Head of Research
This player will be researching new products to develop and liaising with Nations about scientific progress.
Team Size: 2 players
There are a handful of other groups with international influence that may be available as played teams if the game has enough players. These teams are best suited for experienced megagame players.
Team Size: 9 to 12 players
A smaller team of players are acting as the Alien presence. Exactly what this team will be doing is unknown and mysterious. This role is best suited for players who are interested in roleplaying and a more different experience.
Team Size: 3 to 6 players
The News Media team will be learning of important events and broadcasting them to the rest of the game. These roles revolve around asking questions, learning about what's going on, and preparing announcements.
A small team of players will be helping to run the game and manage certain parts of the experience. The Control Team are effectively a team of GMs ensuring that the rules are applied properly, and allowing players to interact with parts of the game that aren't established by existing mechanics. This role is best suited to people who have attended a megagame before or who are familiar with this sort of responsibility.
