January 24, 2020

I am pleased to announce a new megagame design coming to Bristol on the 11th April. Bad Moon Rising is set in an alternative history 1970s, where the USA and the USSR are rapidly developing bases on the moon in a duel for supremacy. Can they handle the political, logistical, scientific and security challenges, all while trying to make sure that the Cold War doesn't go hot?

Bad Moon Rising is a game by Jim Wallman, designer of t...

A little over four years ago today, on the 10th October 2015, in Swindon Village Hall in Cheltenham, I achieved two major megagame "firsts". I simultaneously attended my first megagame and ran my first megagame. The game was, unsurprisingly, 'Watch The Skies!' (back then, still in more or less its first incarnation as designed by Jim Wallman in 2014). At the time it just seemed like something that would be fun to do - a divers...

After a bit of a gap, megagames are coming back to Swindon with the overwhelmingly popular Den of Wolves (now having been run at GenCon and SHUX, and plenty of other places!). For any Swindon area locals, this game should be a good introduction for friends who want to give megagaming a try, or a refresher for those looking to get back into megagaming. It's also an opportunity for other south-west megagamers to give Den of Wolv...

I'm excited to announce the first game for the SWMG 2020 calendar!

'Infinite Horizons', the sci fi game of colonisation, cooperation, capitalism and conflict, will be returning to Frenchay Village Hall (Bristol BS16 1NU) on 11th January 2020. If you played it last time, here's your opportunity to give it another go from a new perspective. However, if the game is new to you:

- 'Set in a sci-fi future that's all too familiar, Infi...

I'm running 'Den of Wolves', in Southampton, having been invited by Zane Gunton, my friend and designer of some great megagames, who lives there.

In other news, we have sadly had to cancel the game of WTS2S at Sanctuary Gaming Centre due to being a few players short of the minimum required - instead we will be running Den of Wolves there in September instead!

'Den of Wolves' is a game about a small fleet of interstellar vessels...

My next original game will be played for the first time in Bristol on the 19th October 2019. Sugar and Sedition is set during the Cuban revolution, exploring the interesting dynamics and challenges of this conflict. The game is operational, but there is a very strong political element due to the conflicted relationships both between and within the various factions.

The game will be held at Frenchay Village Hall (Beckspool Rd, W...

At the beginning of March I ran 'Watch The Skies: Second Sight' in Cardiff - the first megagame run in Cardiff in the last few years. I was really pleased with how it turned out, and it was great to see so many local players coming along to try out megagames for the first time.

There was a lot of demand for another game to be run in Cardiff, and so I am looking forward to running my popular game, 'Den of Wolves', there in Septe...

I'm looking forward to bringing another game to Reading - 'Watch the Skies: Second Sight'. This game has proved very popular so far so I look forward to bringing it to the enthusiastic Reading megagame community!

'Watch The Skies: Second Sight' is a re-design of the version of version of 'Watch The Skies!'  run previously by South West Megagames. There are a couple of reasons why I wanted to bring back 'Watch The Skies!'.

Sanctuary Gaming Centre has invited me to run 'Watch The Skies: Second Sight' up at their venue in Sutton-in-Ashfield (near Mansfield). Whilst a lot of the gaming centre's usual patrons and community are likely to be coming along for this, it is very much open to the public like my regular events, so if you fancy this one feel free to come on down! (Or if you know someone relatively local who might, please let them know!)

The g...

It's been almost a year since I last ran my first original megagame, 'A World Divided', and I felt like it was time to get the game out for a third run. Since its last run in February 2018, I moved onto exciting new projects and left it at the back of my mind, but I've always wanted to give it another go, and it's never been to Bristol, a city that always seems to have plenty of enthusiastic megagamers!

'A World Divided' is set...
